As a student, you can access various IT services to support your academic journey. Find out how to utilise these resources effectively, whether you are on campus or studying remotely.
Find your username and email
When you registered at the University you were given a username and chose a password. You will need these to access IT services and systems:
- your username is on your library card and is a combination of letters and numbers, for example, abc123
- your email address is your username followed by @bath.ac.uk, for example, abc123@bath.ac.uk
- if you have forgotten your password or need to change it, follow our guide on how to change or reset your University password
- you are required to set up Multi-Factor Authentication on your account, which provides an extra layer of protection on Microsoft 365 applications and the É«ÖÐÉ« VPN
Connect to the internet and your games console in student accommodation
The University's free Wi-Fi service for students is called eduroam. This service enables you to connect to Wi-Fi at universities across the UK and abroad.
If you haven't already connected your device, visit to get set up, otherwise, join the ‘Setup Assistant’ network and follow the instructions to get online.

Access your University email and calendar
Outlook on the web is the simplest way you can access your University email and calendar, using your web browser on any device:
- Sign in at
- Enter your university username, found on your library card, for example, abc123, and password to log in.

Stay safe
Keep yourself and others safe by:
- Securing your device: ensure you have high-quality antivirus software installed to guard against internet threats, emails, and infected files. If you’re using Windows 10, verify that its built-in protection is enabled and updated
- Applying security updates: install all security updates as soon as they become available

- Handling suspicious emails: we will never ask you to reveal your password or personal information by email. To report suspicious emails, use the 'Report Message' button in Outlook on the web
Access university files, printers and software from your device

Access software, including Microsoft Office
You can access a range of free software on University computers and your device. This includes Microsoft Office 365, which you can download and install at no cost. The Microsoft Office 365 suite features Teams, Office, and Outlook.

We aim to ensure that all of our IT services are accessible to everyone. To support you during your time at university, we offer a range of services and specialist software. We work with Student Services to provide support to those who need it, particularly those with disabilities.
