We provide pre-sessional, academic, mathematics, language and digital skills support and enhancement, both for your studies and future employment.

Academic Skills

We provide academic skills and maths and statistics support to all students.

We offer exceptional English and foreign language courses for all students, staff and the public, supporting their linguistic, intercultural and employability skills.


Foreign Languages

Six students each hold flag of Portugal, France, German, Spain, Italy and Japan.

We offer a range of language courses and other learning opportunities for students, staff and members of the public.

British Studies

We offer credit-bearing courses for visiting and exchange students on British literature and culture and English linguistics.

Volunteers who are native or fluent speakers of various languages run the Language Caf茅. Each language has its own group; we divide groups by language level.

About us

Our aim is to develop student independence by enhancing academic, language and employability skills to ensure each individual can reach their full potential.

The Skills Centre reports to Helen Stringer, Director of Employability & Student Success.
